Um. Wow. It's certainly a unique idea. I like all the details about Madam Pince's life, though.

A nitpick: The name is Igor Karkaroff, not Victor Karakoff.
I liked the repeating of the phrase "definitely ambivalent" throughout the story, but I felt Pince and Filch were a little OOC. From what we are shown of her in the books, she would most likely never dance with the students, and the students would never think of dancing with her. Filch, likewise, seems a bit too sweet. I know they would act different toward each other than with others, but it still seemed a little wrong to me. I would have liked to see a small reason as to why Pince is so mean to the students, but I wasn't expecting that anyway.

Yup. This is, without a doubt, the first Pince / Filch story I've ever read. And it makes sense. I love the playfulness (ok, relative playfulness) in the stern librarian when she's with her beloved. And I love their helplessness at the world they see crumbling around them. Lovely little story, all around.

Nice one-shot! It is interesting to see into the lives of characters mainly constructed as window-dressing, and watch you turn them into real people.

(you know, there is an alternate theory regarding Irma Pince; as in the anagram "Im a Prince". Not that Dumbledore would ever hold Snape's mother hostage...no, never...). Cute ref to the Snarky Potions Master, though. Never estimate the seduction value of ten thousand books!

LOVED it! I've never read anything about Irma before, but it was fantastic! Her and Argus were--dare I say it?--/cute/, even though they're Pince and Filch! I loved the description of her mother, and of how she was an outcast, and seeing Hagrid & Madam M. LOL! I loved it, great job!!
