Your use of language in this fic is lovely. The format is strange, what with it alternating between past and present, but I think that makes it all the more powerful. My only suggestion would be that you explain the fluctuation between italics and normal text, so that other readers understand fully what they are reading. That way, they can focus on the beautiful story itself instead of their confusion. It wasn't confusing to me, but it may be for some people.

Other than that, I have no criticism to offer! Beautiful one-shot through and through. I love how it pivots around the color red. I vote that you write more Yuffentine.
