Harry2 2008-04-11 ch 5,	abuseThat letter of Mateo's mother has me wondering where she was when it was written. Also, why we never knew she was around during all of this? Questions, questions. As for new ideas, how about a chance to see what history would have been like if certain events had not taken place: IE If Kennedy had not been assasinated in Dallas that fateful day. Just a small suggestion.

And I see that Christian agreed as well. It IS the right thing for her to do. I know that going through Mateo's things won't be easy, but it has to be done. And when its done, the proper mourning can begin.

As for your family member, I know a little of what you are going through. My own grandmother died years ago of Lukemia, so I can understand what is going on. jtbwriter 2008-04-10 ch 5,	abuseThis was a heartwrenching, but important story-thank you for the respect you showed with Mateo's death and also the way poor Anna-Kristina tried to grow up a little more. Mateo's last gift was so important-not just to Anna-Kristina but to Leslie and Christian. And his words to his wife-sigh.. echoed in his mother's note, they are so true it makes me teary. Thank you for the great accompanyment to "Bloom"-I look forward to your next trip to the islands and ours!
PDXWiz 2008-04-10 ch 5,	abuseThanks for helping with the cats, Tabitha! Good idea to get Jorgen's help on everything to help set up the new branch. Very good man and he does know as well as anyone else who has ever worked for Christian about his bosses' tastes and demands... Oh good, Anton will be a good choice to become office manager...just can't replace Mateo, however. Tough act to follow there... LOL! I love the doll in national costume idea; some are very beautiful and they make souvenirs almost as good as postcards or coins or stamps (and in some ways, even better!) Yup, I'm sure Christian will have to replace Errico's computer. Well, maybe...just maybe...he can read stuff on the Internet that will slowly change him from being such an autocratic monarch... Oh yeah, the Vallamorosian wine will be a nice reward as well... Going through the empty, quiet Apana house must be hard by yourself...the ghosts of memories of happier times would certainly be haunting you. Hm, I wonder what papers she has found? Ah, I see, it is a letter. Let's see what it says! Wow, that letter puts a lump in your throat, doesn't it? Agreed. Mateo was a rock, was a breeze. Good metaphors for the man! I hope Anna-Kristina likes that letter! Very much a departure from your usual stuff. Good job with solemn stuff, which is very hard to write! Gordon
PDXWiz 2008-04-10 ch 4,	abuseExcellent scene at the scene, very somber but very descriptive. It truly shows how many lives Mateo touched with his gentleness... That letter...is truly from Mateo's heart. Quite eloquent, yet simple, just like the man himself. Good dialogue from Christian, explaining the wisdom of Mateo's wishes! The plan for splitting up the packing is a good one. It's also a good idea to see if Tabitha would like the cats...I'm sure she enjoyed knowing that Anna-Kristina shared her interest in cats, and that she will be more than happy to help out with them. A busy day, and they all worked hard. Somberness makes it hard to write my usual big reviews... Gordon
PDXWiz 2008-04-10 ch 3,	abuse:( This is hard...I am having trouble finding things to say...the tears are coming...I liked Mateo Apana; he was a very good guy and I was happy that Anna-Kristina had found him; he was a good grounding for her, an excellent partner... That was...that was the saddest conversation Leslie and Christian have ever had. Probably the saddest thing you've written since...since Trial By Fire... What a cute scene with the trips! Oh, I'm crying again as Christian comes home... Yah! They talk! Wu and hu! Tobias and Susanna have good taste in finger foods (bread, Cheerios). As for Karina, she has very healthy taste in banana! :) A sad homecoming...but with the wonder of the babies and the pleasure of each other... Good chapter! Well done, I say! Well done, indeed! To close the schools...this is very serious; Roarke would undoubtedly have stressed the need for education for a great many years, and many residents would believe in the importance of education as a result. I would think a much higher proportion of island residents go on to get advanced schooling than in the US, Canada, Western Europe, Australia, or Japan. Great imagery to describe the trips as though they are swimming while they are trying to hitch themselves across the floor! Neat fantasies: the Gold Rush, and being a famous fashion designer. Those sound like classic FI-style fantasies. Good job thinking them up! A spot appearance from Haruko is nice, but this is very ominous if Dr. Lambert has requested an appearance from Roarke... Oh boy, this must be serious if she is asking about amakarna. I notice she's very afraid to even mention it to him after everything that has happened with Christian and the Enstad family around that evil spice... (blinking back tears) Strong scene... Gordon
