Very nice ... I love the angst you portray here. It seems very much in character for John Thornton, who strikes me as someone who shows a proud face to the world, but feels things deeply inside. I hope you decide to continue and show us his journey to Helstone and what he finds there - and then the journey home!

I like the story; the feelings of the Thorntons are well written and consistent with the film. I'm only not sure that Mr Thornton ever pursued Anne Latimer. I believe she was never intended to be a love interest of his. This is what Margaret thought but that was through the prism of her changed feelings for him. Had he considered Miss Latimer, he could never go off with Margaret, train station or not, as it would be dishonourable.

Loved it! A very well written and quite original missing scene!

I can't picture John Thornton running unless he was in mortal danger. John Thornton walking fast with a determined, distracted look about him...yes.

I LOVED your chapter. It really captures what must have been going through John Thornton's mind as he closed his doors to the mill and the insights about Ann Latimer really worked. Hannah Thorton's thoughts about her son's business failure and her concerns about John were spot on and believable. Good job!
