2009-10-25 . chapter 1
Oh this is just...amazing. I usually say that for lack of a better word, but there's no need to with this! The subtleties of it are beautiful, and every detail is written so it sticks out in your mind. The way Kefka's gradual insanity occurs pans out beautifully, as does Celes's relationship with him. It's beautiful and painful and bittersweet, all of it, and I cannot praise it highly enough.

Seriously. This is a gem.

A bit late on the review, but this is absolutely beautiful. The Kefka and Celes relationship, if you could even call it that, is something that is mentioned only once during the last scene at end of the Floating Continent but never expanded on - like many plot points in VI.

Of particular note is your use of Cid. It's obvious that Celes is very fond of him in-game and in your fiction. It was nice to see the quarrel between she and Cid, perhaps with a bit of loathing that will always be there for what she lost.

This fic was recommended to me, and it did not disappoint. This was amazing work, and while, yes, melodrama-villain Kefka is wonderful with his whooping laughter and insanity, your Kefka is realistic and tragic and complex and feeds very well into nutso-Kefka. I especially love the moment when he breaks the wine glass - very poignant.

Like it's already been said, Celes' imperial background plays far too small a role in the FFVI canon, one could play the game without thinking about it. After one read of this fic, however, it becomes an immutable part of her. I like the occasionally inappropriate relationship that she and Kefka had - it wasn't creepy or romantic, it was a kinship among knights. You did a wonderful job of exploring it, especially in this line: "they are the same, both of them, in ways that perhaps no one else in the world can know."

Anyway, this is a great fic that deserves commendation. I'm favouriting it and recommending it.

I loved this story. The idea of a normal-ish Kefka always appealed to me: I figured it was the magitek infusions that drove him mad at first.

Excellent work.

This story is fantastic! The Kefka and Celes interaction was so believable that it with a few more tweaking, it could have been the real thing pre-game.

I'm rambling now, ahaha. Good job on the story! :)

This is brilliantly done. Your style is engaging and vivid, the characterizations clear and wonderfully subtle. This adds some great depth to Kefka's character, which is just as fun and interesting in its own way as stark raving mad Kefka. And it adds a lot to Celes, which is great too. You write amazingly well. If my Final Fantasy work comes off half as well as this, I will count it as a tremendous success.

Very well done! I'll be sure to rec this to my FF-loving friends!

This is an extremely well-written story and I love the portrayal of Kefka and Celes. None of the elements you used were too overwhelming (rather, they were somewhat subtle but concrete)and they all meld together quite well. This is definately a refreshing read in what is a dismal number of FFVI fanfictions, much less ones that are written as well as this.

Kudos, and I'll enjoy reading more stories from you in the future.

I really enjoyed this story and the thought and effort you put into the writing. It's nice to read something that really delves deeply into characters and you picked a topic that hasn't really been discussed much and really brought it to life.

Was a great read. Thanks and hope to see more.

This was great. People never write about Kefka and Celes relationship, so it's pretty much open for anyone's interpertation. This really was a good read; I like the romantic under tones, and though it doesn't seem like a good pairing you made it work. I also like the way you wrote it, the progression of time and the entire story over. It had a sort of tragic, poetic tone to it that made you feel sorry for Kefka and the entire situation.

In short, I loved this story. Great job.

It's a really interesting take on Kefka, having him slowly lose his sanity, instead of having it all gone after his infusion. The Celes Kefka dynamic was never really explored ingame, so it leaves a nice base for a plotline. I'm not to fond of love stories, but I like this, simply because it was extremely well written. Creativity was a huge bonus. Definitely adding it to favorites.
