But I am really glad I did not stop reading there and went on, as the rest of the fic is really, really good. It's nice to see Snape as the good teacher, handling an 11-year-old child just the way she needs it, and yet there still is his Snapish nastiness. |

But, in context (both of PtQ and even of canon) this makes perfect sense. Both characters were lonely, heartbreakingly so, and turned to the first people that showed acceptance, that seemed to show friendship - without understanding the difference between friendship and being used. |
