It is not only an opening for the next journey (if you chose to write that), Martha to the Connors could also be seen as proof that the future can be change (though they first have to believe her story--even to timetravelers, being invaded by aliens would be harder to believe than machines taking over...--and they don't have the 'magic reset button' that to do what she did.) Sorry for the ramble. I hope that season 2 puts you in the mood to do a squeal, but if you don't I understand. I'll just go back and reread this ^^;

No wonder Warin wanted a break from 4 years there. I think the plot is wonderful! I'm thrilled you keep writing, and this chapter is just in time for my post Moonlight cancellation depression I-so-needed-a-pick-me-up! Your pacing is well done, and you gave Derek Reese more in depth characterization than we have seen so far on SCC - although, I'm curious if Martha will ever run into Cameron? If so, it'd be interesting to see a sequel story where she tries to look up Derek Reese...who has direct experience with time travel, enough that he might even believe her story... Then one wonders how much the Doctor knows about this whole time travel/Skynet thing...one would think he'd be aware of it as a 'distortion' in time around this uh, time period... Now I'm picturing Skynet getting together with the Cybermen...

I really enjoy reading stories about Martha in the year-that-wasn't. Your portrayal of her is perfect, too. And, I really like the fact that she thought up the gun idea, and wasn't just told to do so by the Doctor. Also, I started watching SCC because of this story, and thank you for hooking me on a great new show.
Ghostdraconi 2008-05-01 ch 3,	abuseVery Interesting, I've been dying for stories that go on within that missing year and Reese seems a perfect fit for this dystopian world. He must be pretty pissed off though, Skynet's Apocalypse os averted only by the Toclafane's attack.

Interesting OC'? too bad Reese wasn't in the original I can't help thinking this would have (your story) would have made better use of the Doctor's time than the current series. So who is Reese and where did he come from?
