Just the right words and the perfect amount of description to allow the emotion to leap off the page at you. One of my favorite bits: “Are you sure you want this?” he asked, his voice gruff with lust. She nodded but that wasn’t enough for him. “Say it,” he said thickly. “Say the words,” he demanded. Placing one trembling hand against his cheek, she whispered, “I want you.” show that although his intent is on having her sexually he doesn't want it without her heart which is further puncuated by the fact that he stops when she starts crying. And I love the humourous release here: Fiddling with his dog tag, she mumbled, “That was embarrassing.” “What was?” he asked carefully. “Crying during sex.” But I think what I love the most about this piece is that they were both honest with each other about how they were feeling and they resolved to work on their relationship whatever that may turn out to be. Excellent, excellent piece. |
