 midnightwaters 2009-05-04 . chapter 1Wow beautifully written. |
Prinzzez Kitten 2008-12-15 . chapter 1Aw that was really sweet! This is my first Ratatouille fav! |
Muriel Candytuft 2008-11-19 . chapter 1The imagery and language in this story is beautiful. I can definitely see Remy slicing the eggplant "like an alchemist," "slotting every perfect slice of vegetable," "with the reverence of a high priest on an altar." Such lovely ways to put it, and so Remy.
Heck, the even tomato sauce bit almost made me drool! That burnished sheen and all...
Anyway, this was great! You probably have heard this before, but this use of language would make some killer original fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
By the way, after reading this, now I'm in love with Remy, too. :)

MoonDay 2008-08-18 . chapter 1Nice little story. Your writing's pretty good too! |
bdlywrttn 2008-06-28 . chapter 1Really enjoyabe onesehot. You did very well with her character and that was pretty adorable at the end. :-) |
WildCroconaw 2008-06-22 . chapter 1Cute. I wondered how Collette could have accepted the fact that Remy is a rat |
kittenkatpaw 2008-06-12 . chapter 1*GORGEOUS* little vignette!! I thought this: "I am not a hypocrite. I stand by my beliefs" was an excellent rationale for how she came to the decision to return to the kitchen, and I adore the last line. I also like the acknowledgement of Remy's "delicate little hands"-- I have a pair of rats, and the way they use their little hands *is* a delight. As always, your work is wonderful! |
Colette Tatou 2008-05-04 . chapter 1Whoa, descriptive! And so many similes! Especially towards the end. Right after "But there was something about him..." My head is reeling with it all. In a good way!
And, most of all, the way he looked up at her, inviting her to share his delight…
^I can so see that face.
My favorite thing was how you dealt with the unreality of the situation. I've been wanting to write something like this on why she turned that bike around and came back. I couldn't come up with good enough words to describe why she would apply the philosophy "anyone can cook" to a rat... it's too riddiculous! I mean, yeah she relates in that her gender and his, er, species both make them outcasts in a professional kitchen, but I couldn't justify that she would return solely based on that. Does any of that make sense?
My point is: You did a great job of this! With her admitting that "it was hard when the little, open-faced creature pulled out the card..." and with her objecting to the idea, and thinking 'well, if it's a dream, I'll wake up soon!'
Just brilliant. And realistic, I think. :)
Oh, and your emphasizing that she's come this far, or is in this far already, PERFECTLY describes that shrug/head tilt she does right after the "peasant dish" line and Alfredo's nod. |
MewPassionAngel 2008-05-04 . chapter 1aw! so cute! i also think your descriptiveness is excellent! |
excessivelyperky 2008-05-04 . chapter 1Yes! Ratatouille was the first movie I ever saw that understood how to _show_ taste--lots have shown people reacting to taste, but never was the actual sensation portrayed in a way most people could understand till this film. |
