Was this meant as a joke...? *sob*
I know you hated that movie just as much as I did so I am totally confused. Was it meant to be some kind of funny? It seems written in such a serious tone that I'm confused. *cries in a corner*

It's nice. If you feel up to it put an epilogue in order to wrap things up. ^^

This is quite interesting since you hate seishouhen, not that I blame you.

I had an idea once to do something like this where Ken and Kao somehow see themselves acting out the movie. Mine is alot more complicated than yours but it's nice to see this used. Love all your story's hope to see more.

I agree with the other reviews in that the story is well written, but is lacking much depth since the characters never speak of what they see. I also agree that anyone who knows and loves the characters and the way they are written has to hate the second OVA; in fact like many RK fans I refuse to acknowledge that it exists. This story is an interesting concept, and if it were part of a larger story, like where Kenshin saw this as what could happen if he continued wandering but knew it wouldn't happen since he had chosen to stay at the Kamiya dojo, I think it might have worked better, but as a story goes I think it just leaves things hanging.

The ending on this left me a little flat. Part of it was that this seemed like it could be something profound, yet the "real time" Kenshin and Kaoru had nothing to tell them that the doppelgangers could have been them if something had gone differently. On top of that, they never speak about it to each other, so they lose the opportunity to even begin to guess what it meant. It's an interesting concept and technically well-written, but it doesn't pop or make me go "whoa!" or leave me with a warm fuzzy. I am probably only slightly less confused than Kenshin and Kaoru. Perhaps you could consider something in the manga and in the OAV that could tip them off that life could have been much more tragic. I don't know what - I'll leave that for you to explore. :)

visions of seisouhen... the nightmare.

i still don't understand how anyone who watched/read the series could even write the characters into that abomination. i really think that the 'seisouhen' author wrote some beautiful angsty piece and viciously plugged rk characters into it. kenshin never wanted to wander again, he refused to work for the government and would never go and train troops to KILL, his whole mission was for the new generation so he would never neglect his family to wonder around, grr... sorry. i guess you feel as strongly about the subject. why they didn't do a 'naruto' (and rumored 'inuyasha' after the manga is concluded) and finish the series in anime instead of defiling it with 'seisouhen' trash... *smashes head into keyboard*

if that's what it takes to have the scar disappear i would rather he keep the scar.

as always you profoundly move and captivate your readers.

thank you,

I have to read the other story you refer to. I went ahead and read this first and my impression is that Kenshin and Kaoru from the manga ending are watching the Kenshin and Kaoru from the OVA ending. It's as if Kenshin is watching the life he would have led if he left his family the way he does in the OVA. Of course, he has no way of knowing this, so although it would be eerie, it would be a message without specific meaning to them both. I think it would be better if he knew what led to this ending. Perhaps reading the other story will change my opinion on that.

Uhm.. wow.

That was very well written, I didn't matter that it was short, because it told the story very well. Well, at least Kenshin and Kaoru know what their fate is going to be in their future.

... that was strangely riveting. How strange it must be to see someone who could be your twin like that. I read Two Faces of The Same Person, but I never thought of replaying this part for them. Interesting take on the fic.
