abuseAwesome, and it's so good to see you writing Will/Djaq again. I didn't think Will was angry, though--just dumbfounded and embarrassed. Djaq was irritated with his reaction, though, and that confused me. Maybe she thought he was angry, though. I'll have to go back and watch...

abuseAW.

Coherent reaction will be coming any second now, I'm sure of it.

Or maybe not. :)

The fic was so beautifully and lovingly written that any corniness was perfectly acceptable. Thhe part at the end where Djaq is all upset just had my little shipper heart dying of "teh squee".
You did a great interpretation of the scene (I personally didn't think Anjali pulled it off all that well, unfortunately *eyeroll*) - not too stretched out, but just enough to describe every movement and thought so vividly I could see it happening in front of me.
I also really liked the mentions of Robin and his reaction to Djaq - they have a beautiful brother-sister like relationship that's just so wonderful to watch. :)
[Oh, and the characterisation was excellent. Will's stumbling little speech, Djaq's thoughts about becoming more openly feminine... I didn't like it at all at the time, but it makes much more sense now.]

abuseI'm so glad you grasped the depth of disapproval behind Will's jaw-tightening and quick up-down glance at Djaq's exposed femininity.

That wasn't just shellshock - our carpenter was definitely feeling uncomfortable with her body being displayed to the world.

Wonderful insight to that scene!
The way in which you recovered the adventure of this episode as a reminiscence was a fabulously structured - and links back to Djaq's anger.

She has a tendency to channel her frustration in a hostile manner when she's feeling vulnerable - and you considered all of the character's habits and traits.

Loved it. Keep writing! x

abuseThat was great. Really good job filling in the gaps from the episode and showing their thoughts.

abuseThis is excellent. Not only have you come up with a great explanation of just why Will looks so... weird... in that scene, and why Djaq gets so angry (I always thought she was annoyed at him staring at her chest, but this is a much more subtle explanation!) but their subsequent interactions were lovely as well.

I really liked your exploration of the implications of Djaq being openly female for the first time since abandoning Safiyah, too, especially the John/father parallel. It was a nice touch.

*round of applause*

abuseCorny? This? Psh, no way. It was lovely and sweet and funny. (I'd kill to see Harry Lloyd in a dress.) This is a great interpretation of that scene. Will Scarlett sure as hell wasn't looking at "NOTHING" there. I always thought he was quite astonished to discover that Djaq had cleavage.

abuseI really enjoyed this - I could see this actually happening on the show. I did catch one typo: "The sheriff had discovered her gender some months previous, and as terrifying as that had been it seemed to have broken some of the rules Djaq had been adhering to." First, you end the sentence in a preposition, and it's not quite finished, since you used the word "as". That aside, this story was very good, and it lasted just long enough. Good work.

abuseOh this is just gorgeously fluffy and adorable! I'm not usually one to read will/djaq fic but this is probably one of my favourite pieces of writing in the fandom. I think you've got this perfectly, because I think the look Will gives her in that scene isn't an adoring one, just a stare and her reply does come off very irritable. I love how you intepreted this, I think it's spot on! Thank you so much for posting!

abuseThis was really well-written and also very original - I don't think I've read another fic about this incident that depicts Will as being disapproving of Djaq's wearing the dress. But when I think back to that scene and WIll's demeanor, your interpretation actually fits rather well! It also meshes with Djaq's irritated "What?" response.
I liked how you depicted Djaq watching her own transformation into a woman - who is not Safiyah but a feminine version of her new persona - and revelling in the sense of power that comes with it.
My quibble with this scene (not your fic) has always been why no one notices the obviously foreign "peasant girl". especially Guy who knows there's a Saracen woman in Robin's gang. Surely there can't have been too many Saracen women running around Nottingham in those days..
But regardless of that BBC plothole, well done on giving a new perspective on this scene!
