Not quite canon, but an original way of viewing the process of growing up and the progress of a doomed friendship.

I didn't get the sense that Lily cared for Snape nearly as much as he did for her. She had already begun turning against him by the time Sirius tried to feed him to a werewolf, which pre dates him calling her Mudblood. (A friend actively seeks to know how you are after a traumatic experience and doesn't merely wait for it to come up in conversation, still less prejudges you as the guilty party). I believe he cried about their split, but I doubt that she did.

I liked it... I mean I would have prefered it be a student but I liked it none-the-less... I really had to think about it and that's why I liked it... I wasn't just laid out...

So, this could have been almost anyone--but character at top says Snape, so either this is his view, or his note. Lily would be the one to leave a note, and from book seven, we know Severus still has feelings for her, but . . .
real life intrudes as does lack of self-control in emotional situations. Sad, but it does happen.

Hadn't thought about the symbols after simple statements, or even how it changes over time. Glad you recalled punctuation and young decorative shapes. Seems accurate to me--and well written, plus intriguing in its own way.
