Well, that certaintly was interesting... And from there the realionship of them could go both ways... sibling-like or couple-like... If one imagines them as the future family Jo portrait in the epilogue... Well, there ARE quite a few years in between and with what the two went through they might just be emotionally strained out and need some time to focus on live without to much danger, till they can fall in love again...
if one prefers a less canon ending... Well, who says that it's a bad thing to stay on good terms with your ex-girlfriend/boyfriend? (I am on VERY good terms with my first ever boyfriend, he actually is something like a brother for me...)
