abuseA brilliant exploration of the characters. Valygar and Aerie are opposites in a way, and this really looks carefully at their relationship - and you're doing an amazing job. I've always thought that Valygar needed some expansion, any expansion of his personality. You've kept his core me-no-likey-magic-attitude, but you've given him really good depth on top of that, not separately, which is wonderful.

My only niggle is the Nalia hate, but it makes sense. It's Valygar. She practically stands for everything he fears happening to a friend. And this is told from his perspective, so she *is* going to come off in a bad light.

Really enjoying the different party line-up, I'm going to be honest. Even if the others aren't main features of the story, they're putting across themselves enough to keep me happy, and each with the respective voices I recognise from the game. The rivalry/friendship angle between Brevad and Anomen is wonderful. How much more of this delectable treat of a story is left, exactly?

abuseOh, dear. Is this what you do in between stories? Write more stories? :D

Anyway... A story of the rediscovery of religion, Valygar edition... You know, I almost would love to see the theme reversed, for once, and see Valygar be the one to convince Aerie into atheism! But in FR, atheism really is dangerous for one's health, so maybe he'd better not. :)

Also, I've just realised that I'd love to see you write a Nalia story. Since she's so horribly normal next to Aerie... it might be interesting to get into her head, once, and I'd love to see what you would do of her.

The writing is, as always, superb. Thank you!

abuseIt's nice... don't think it makes up for the terrible thing you did in Reclaiming though... we're still going to annoy you about it ;)

Seriously though, so far you've shown just a few of the opportunities that were missed out on. Valygar's pig headed unwillingness to let go of his mistrust of magic users is rather touching in a way... if only he would think to use that Sphere to do something good.

Aerie is lovely as always... it would be nice to see the more determined and aggressive side of her as well though. I think we do see from game Aerie that while she is a sweet person who enjoys being helpful at heart, when she feels threatened or backed into a corner she has got claws she can unsheath :) And there are questions about her that need creative explanations, such as why is she a healer at all...? Obviously she couldn't have become a priest via the normal route and Gods don't go handing out power to people willy nilly.

Nalia is also proving what an oddity she is. As a supporting member of the cast she's great... but when she tries to make the transition to be being one of the main characters she almost immediately starts to become bland and uninteresting :?

I definitely hope to see more soon!

abuseI like your concept and your story. The Bioware version of Valygar was interesting, but slightly undeveloped... it's good that we have fanfiction ;).
