| skrblr 2008-06-28 ch 1, | abuseCute! I love how different the two of them are, although it seems a little hyperbolic, based on my interaction (babysitting! yay!) with even the brightest kids (seriously, this one boy is incredibly smart. He almost makes me jealous, and I'm at least 10 years older!). Then again, it's Willy Wonka, so you never can tell. It does sound like him - unicorn cow. Unicow? Moonicorn? hee hee |
| Beppo Magic Bicycle 2008-05-16 ch 1, | abuseThis is excellant, a very good depiction of what Mr. Wonka might hav been like as a child. Although, personally, I somehow don't think he would have ever been able to wish anyone would die. I also believe that his parents would probably have been wonderful people, though here it makes sense that they are more like Matilda's, since there is a clear parallel. I like how faithful you are to Dahl's style. |
| Yva J. 2008-05-09 ch 1, | abuseI have to agree with YaYa's summation on this. Although both characters could pass for six in the way you wrote this, having it set in 1905 would make both candy makers close to 70 by the time 1971 arrived, which for us Wilder Wonka fans a very hard pill to swallow...even if Wonkavite or Vitawonk was in place. You should also put a name after 'Until again', so your readers know who is writing this. Basically, I think you need to establish which Wonka you are going with, book verse, or Wilder Wonkaverse. As I said, if you were to have the year as 1950, then it would hold some sense of believability, since Gene Wilder was in his 30's when they filmed the movie. Although in the film, it was determined that it held a certain timelessness to it, Gene Wilder was not in his 70's when that film was made and most Wilder Wonka fans would not be in agreement with the reliability of the story. Playing about too much with the time frame makes things a bit complicating anyway. Just something to keep in mind. I'll keep reading this, as I find the idea interesting, and I noticed that someone else had written a Wilder Wonka Diary story so the more the merrier. The Slugworth / Wonka friendship angle has never been done, so it should be interesting. |
| YA-YA 2008-05-09 ch 1, anon. | abuseHm. Sounds like an interesting idea you have here. Not quite sure what to make of the first chapter, but since it's Wilder Wonka (my favorite) I'll likely keep reading if you keep writing. In my own personal opinion, I think 1905 is a little before Wonka's time period, but since he's a fictional character nothing's set in stone. Just make sure then to keep everything realistic to that time in history- don't mention things that didn't exist at the time the story or chapter is set. (Another writer did make that mistake, which made the story unbelievable.) Overall, I'd say you got a neat idea here. |
