Greensleeves the Great 2009-10-04 . chapter 1SQUE! Sherlock Holmes!! (Sorry, you are talking to a certified Holmes nut here.)
This is the story of yours that I read first (when I had no idea what 'Nancy' meant, unfortunately) and I think it's still my favorite. I really like post-Narnia Eustace (done well, of course), as well as the Pevensies in England and how their experiences in Narnia shape their reactions to the Real World.
One thing always puzzled me about Aslan's saying to the Pevensies "find me in your world," (paraphrased, obviously). Assuming that they are good Anglicans (a safe assumption, considering C.S. Lewis' own religious views), why did they not find Aslan-as-Christ immediately after they returned from Narnia the first time? Did they not go to church for several years, or something? I never understood that.
I found Alberta's comment that "the church is always empty" to be very interesting. Is there a story behind that? Was she at one point religious, and then was "betrayed" by God? Being that I myself am agnostic, I empathize with her feeling like there's nothing there; I've been to church several times, and always felt like I should be feeling something, but don't. You know, everyone around me is feeling the presence of Someone, and I'm just... not. I can't make myself believe what my mind says doesn't exist, and so, yes, the church feels empty. It's not merely that nothing's there, it's that nothing's there when there should be something. You could call it the Absence of God, I guess. But yeah, I'd be interested in a ficlet on Alberta and why she turned out the way she did.
Whoa, this review somehow turned into a religious discussion... Sorry. I loved the story. |
LAHH 2009-09-01 . chapter 1 I loved this and how you wrote the cnahged Eustace. And I'm so sad that only one story is left. x |
snowstargirl 2009-08-28 . chapter 1Fantastic! I loved the spiritual aspect of the story; it was done beautifully. The relationships between all of the characters were wonderful, and everyone seemed very much in-character. The way you illustrated the changes in Eustace was great, Peter was very honorable, and I loved the way the children spoke to one another. Peter and Edmund’s conversation on the phone, the way Eustace felt about his cousins, the children’s reunion and talk in the garden, the chapel scene, Alberta’s frustration with her son, and the way Eustace felt about his bible and its history were all very moving. This is one of my absolute favorite stories, and I can’t wait to read more of your work! |
VampiresWizardsCentaursOhmy 2009-08-22 . chapter 1Huh... poor Lucy turning eleven three times! Sheesh! I can see that happening soon after they all got back. I love what Eustuce said at the end, that above all else really shows how muchhe changed I think. Good job! =) |
Taryn Streambattle 2009-08-15 . chapter 1Beautifully made! May the Lion bless you! |
redrose7856 2009-08-06 . chapter 1EXCELLENT work! This is amazing! Gah, so few people write about the spiritual aspects of Narnia, it's refreshing to see it done, especially so well!
Lord be with You,

 Bartholo 2009-06-30 . chapter 1I can't say much. It was beautiful. |
Wildfire2 2009-01-31 . chapter 1All done, see you no longer have to put up with my constant reviews. Very good story, little sad for Eustace, rotten parents. I imagine Peter will become his role model just as he has done with his siblings. Can't wait for you to write more, on what ever story your working on. Thanks so much for writing so many wonderful stories.

tragicallybeautiful 2009-01-24 . chapter 1I just wanted to let you know that I loved this story. I liked how you had Edmund wanting to immediately tell Peter about what had happened and then the professor being enthusiastic about Peter going to hear about their adventure. I also thought that the way you showed Eustace's change was wonderful.
Thanks for an awesome story. |
Aimme 2009-01-17 . chapter 1I really, really love this story! So beautifully done!
