As much as I enjoyed this tag, it made me sad to see Sam seeking comfort from Bobby rather than Dean. Of course, this makes perfect sense. The third season had the brothers drifting so far apart, it was rare for them to discuss anything other than in business or anger. Still, I'm glad the guys have Bobby in their life to provide that ear when needed. I'd forgotten about the baseball bat! It has been so long since I viewed that episode that I think I actually saw the light bulb flash over my head when I did remember. The show glossed over that fun little detail...I'm glad you brought it back here. Sam's well of guilt just never seems to have a bottom. Despite all the guilt he's harboring over Dean's deal, the wounds from his father's death just never seem to heal. With the epsiode focusing so heavily on Dean's loss, I never put myself in the position to see how it would be affecting Sam. It broke my heart to see our guy suffer; that it would take a concussion to bring out those raw feelings made it even tougher to read. And good for Dean! He couldn't provide the comfort Sam needed two years ago, but he really came through here. Dean didn't beat around the bush, offering up empty words. He just went to the heart of it all. = “He still knew you loved him Sam. He always knew.” “And he loved you too.”= Good job, Dean (and Phx!). My heart belongs to Sam, but it's moments like this that just make me want to hug that other guy. =) Ok, enough rambling. I have more reading to do! But as always, excellent job. =)

But I liked this, and it was cool how you brought in how Sam felt just after their Dad died. He was hurting too but Dean wasn't able to be there for him then. Now he is...well...till the season end anyway...sniff! Thanks for sharing this though, and I'm off to catch up with the rest of your stuff :)

Cases in point: "Bobby winced, internally cursing as he stood up and slowly moved to the darkened window at the foot of his bed. He pushed open the curtains and stared through his reflection into the darkness of the night" and "Ten minutes later, he was a set of tail lights disappearing in the dark." Well done!

abni 2008-05-12 ch 1,	abuseWonderful tag! Sam being broken by the fact that 'John' called Dean and not him is so heartbreaking -and so believable! He never had the time to patch things up with his father before John died, and those old feelings of hurt and rejection are still inside him. In additoin, Dean's blind faith that his father would be able to save must've added to Sam's own sense of failure since he still hasn't found a way to save Dean and would make him even more broken up inside. (Uh, sorry, I'm rambling...) And I love how he calls Bobby, since Bobby is the closest thing he has to a replacement for John - they don't have exactly the same kind of relationship as Dean and Bobby do, but Bobby's still the only one Sam has to turn to about things he can't talk to Dean about. (Or thinks he can't). I can so picture all of this, Bobby's behaviour and voice, Sam and Dean's facial expressions and their voices throughout it all - you perfectly capture all three of them! For instance this: 'Sam twisted enough to look up at Dean. His gaze searched Dean’s face, penetrating and assessing the truth behind the words, and then after a few moments, the younger man nodded tiredly and gave him a weak smile. “Go to bed, Dean. You look like **.” Message received.' - that's so the WInchesters - have a deeply emotional moment, then end it with some kind of snarky comment to 'patch up' the vulnerability shown - the Winchester way of saying 'I love you' :D Better stop now, sorry for rambling ;-) Looking forward to your next story!
