Then as I read I found more and more and more of them. I think you've got this prompt pegged just perfectly. River, Wash, Zoe, Simon--even Serenity herself. In my opinion, this is one of the best things I've read of yours for just pure beauty of language and sharp insight into character. I really, really love it. Bunches.

But this isn't complete! It needs Kaylee, with her bright disposition, seeing the good in everyone, and taking the travel as a way to see moreof that. Inara, who like Simon, is travelling because she has no choice, to get away from someone. Jayne, who travels knowing that if he stays put he'll die, probably from a bullet or at the end of a rope. But mostly Mal. Because he's still flyin', and that's enough.

Very well done. I like the structure of this piece. I love that the end is Serenity herself.
