2009-09-03 . chapter 9
Ah, a happy ending always makes a gruesome story that much better. *Grins*

You are truly an assume, obsessed "Voyager" Author, Mrs. Phineas Bogg.

Wowa. . . This one is hard to read. Your graphic descriptions of the boys and this (INSANE INHUMAN Asylum) and the creeps running this place is just stomach turning.

It's hard to believe that this kind of past really did exist. Says a lot about Humans doesn't it.

I fear we're not all that much more civilized today either. I believe if I had been born to a life like that I would have committed suicide at the first opportunity. Death would have been much better than a life like that.

And they wonder why I want to go to another planet. I hope one day I can finish my space ship and get the 773H away from Humans. -lol-

“I’ll join you however you’d like.”
PERFECT LINE! I can just imagine Phineas all decked out like a 1950's model. Does Lilly look like anyone I'd recognize too? Her dress and bun sound *swell* :-)

Great adventure! Thanks again.

AW! Nice relationship growth between them. And how fun that you gave Phineas a little of JEH's cheerleading ability, with the flips and cartwheels!

Ick! On a recent episode of BONES they demonstrated the Pear (well, not on a *person* thank goodness, but still!) The *mild* version is inserted into one's mouth, and can crack open one's skull from the inside. Mind you... the MILD version!

I like that Daryl is willing to help lead them back. I also want to know if Phineas was shirtless when Lilly woke up entangled with him :-)

GREAT curtain line! I was really hoping this escape would work, which shows how well you're writing this, since of course the first one CAN'T work... you still had me so involved that I forgot the plotting basics :-) I love that Jeff knows sign language, and that he's helping protect Firth, really that *all* the boys are helping each other. When human decency can exist among that kind of torment, you see why Bogg shouldn't just give up in the face of history's evils.

“'Sorry doesn’t begin to cover it!' He spewed through gritted teeth." HEE! I've always loved when Bogg does that gritted-teeth-dialogue. Lots of funny slapstick in this one; probably needed! The distances have confused me, since back then most people didn't travel more than 5 miles from their homes during their lifetimes... did Bogg & Lilly travel away from the asylum, and now need to go back? It's a minor matter, for sure. Excellent continuation!

What a horrible place--and a great point you (through Jeff) make, that this sort of thing is actually considered "green light." *sniff* I love that you call the asylum Brocklehurst, which reminds me of that horrid preacher in Jane Eyre; was that on purpose? Or subconscious? :-)

In the prev. chapter, I forgot to mention that you captured another similarity b/t me and Lily--not only are we both gah-gah about Bogg, but we both love Oliver Reed as Bill Sykes. The ultimate bad boy! I wouldn't want to know him in real life, but in fiction? M!

2009-02-28 . chapter 2
"Lilly struggled to turn her head at the sound of his voice. Phineas Bogg had come for her." M! That line alone somehow captures so much! I also love that Lily's Voyagering allows her to kiss spies who look like George Clooney--there really is a nice parallel b/t her and Bogg, that way.

At first I wondered why they didn't wash off in the river, but then I remembered how freakin' dangerous the river was, and that made sense! Good point, about Jeff not knowing Bogg's alive. I look forward to the reunion (the B&J get separated & then reunite episodes were always my fave!)

Oh--great first chapter! You really are incredible writing action. Is the molasses disaster another one of those real historical moments that you come across? Because that's really cool... in a horrific sad way, of course.

2008-09-05 . chapter 1
You know, when I was in the fifth grade, I had a teacher from Boston who had been there when that flood happened; she told us all about it. Apparently it was common practice to store molasses in such huge tanks-until that day, that is. Anyway, here she was in Boston, with the air smelling sickeningly sweet-I was getting a bad feeling about this long before I read the date; the date just clinched it.

I do like Lilly, and the VAP is a great concept.

As for the dark story, it's perfect. They couldn't show anything even close to this on TV; even Jeff's encounter with Fagin was cleaned up a good bit. Personally, with all this (Voyaging in general, not just this story) coming at him rapid-fire so soon after the trauma of his parents' death-it's a wonder he's held it together this long. History books, even the adult variety, tend to gloss over the ugly parts, like this "asylum," so seeing such things first-hand has to be a major shock to the kid. (I think I smell a plot bunny...)

Dear Mrs. Phineas Bogg,
I have to tell you that I have re-read "Asylum" several times now - it makes me feel like the show is still on the air, and I can picture Phineas and Jeffrey doing and experiencing everything that you wrote! Thank you for taking the time to write and post this
Sincerely,

What a beautiful ending... I would have never thought Bogg would fall head-over-heels for Lilly, but, that's Bogg for you.. Hopefully this is 'the real thing' and not just another meaningless fling. Another great story, well laid out and extremely well written. Brava!

2008-06-11 . chapter 8
The "only me usband can butter me buns!" comment and the dialogue that follows is wickedly funny. Who would have ever thought, Bogg and Lilly playing evil kid-torturers? This just can't get any better. Whew, they finally got Jeff and he's safe now. Yay they're all free!!

Que sera sera. Oh that song brings back memories, It was the theme song to the Doris Day show, i remember from my childhood. Beautiful touch and an excellent start to this chapter. Of course Bogg would have to be jealous of her efforts. Oh my, A pirate that can tickle the ivories. What else can the mysterious Bogg do? LOL! And he sings too! What a riot! They obviously have mistaken this little pub for the Broadway stage. Captain and Tenille? Bogg as Darryl Dragon, oh my goodness what a sight with that hat. LOL! What a suble proposition from Lilly. I think I'm getting a case of the vapors after that one. I knew it, Lilly want's Daryl as a partner. Great chapter!
