Beautiful, Fina! I never would have paired Mal and Kaylee, but you did it so gracefully that after the first paragraph, it felt as natural as could be. The scene is nicely constructed; a novel in a thousand words.

Only critique: you almost got the stylized language down. Maybe lighten up on the colloquialisms just a little. Make them the accents, not the norm.
