I like the forgetting the candle bit and the rattling spoon - shows exactly how upset poor Holmes is. And Samira continues to be a dear. But poor Holmes, not knowing how to take a temperature...at least he could read the thing, I still can't read those old thermomters and mom refuses to buy a battery-operated one...K, I'm rambling, aren't I? :D

I love how Holmes is trying so desperately to convince himself he's in control, and it just spirals down by the end to where he's given up trying to fool himself or anyone else.

*poke* One thing, you misspelled 'Moriarty'. *horrified shocked gasp* :)

"Emotions lead only to mistakes." And to Holmes' eyes, mistakes equal weakness and failure. That is a very sad conviction.

That was most definitely worth waiting for - and you do have a panicking Holmes's voice down more pat than anyone I've seen in a while. His thought processes were heartbreakingly real. Oh, well done!

Fantastic story - you have an amazing ability to portray the depth of their friendship in a beautiful writing style. Luv the into of a third character and her perspective of the situation - very clever. This last chapter is so sad - please dont leave me handing :)
