Ahaha, I love Eddy. And I burst out laughing when Jake chased Eddy up a tree. I too have cats. Even tho they are about 8 years old, they act exactly like kittens do. They are very energetic. love this story!

Wowza, that was adorable! :)

This is undoubtedly the most adorable thing that I've ever read! I mean, obviously the kitten is cute, but the affection between Bella and Edward is also unbelievably touching. The tone of the whole story is a perfect example of beautifully done "fluff," as it's sweet and adorable while still packing some substance and depth of emotion.

HOWEVER, there is one part in specific that stands out in my mind as the best thing ever, and that would be the following exchange.

I snorted. “The dog-human? Yeah, Eddy doesn’t trust him, at all. He thinks you should stay away from him. Partly for your protection, and partly because of the smell.”

“My, doesn’t that sound familiar,” Bella said dryly. “So what does he think of me?”

I smiled to myself, able to read the genuine affection in Eddy’s mind that he had for his owner. “On the whole, you’re his favorite. He thinks your human tendencies are ridiculous, of course, but you feed him well and pet him, and you’re warm, and you let him sleep in your bed. He’s quite happy with you.”

Bella snorted uncharacteristically. “That, too, sounds awfully familiar.”

I literally almost died here, partly due to the fact that it makes me say "OH LOOK, Bella/Edward being all cute," and partly due to the fact that I just love the idea of Eddie sharing the same emotions as Edward when it comes to Bella.

But MOSTLY (prepare yourself for a long story), I love it dearly because it reminds me of a frequent topic discussion amongst my family members; specifically the way in which my grandmother projects all her emotions onto her pets. For instance, a few years ago we all convened at my parent's house for the holidays, including my grandmother and my younger brother, who drove up with his puppy Marley. Marley had a wonderful time crashing through the house, begging for food, and of course, chasing the cats. After a few hours, my grandmother emerges from her bedroom and glares at all of us, announcing (very sternly), "Yoda cat wants to know when Marley's bedtime is."

Ever since then, it's a favorite pastime in my family to declare our emotions via our pets, i.e. "Oliver just asked if you'd change the channel, as he would like to watch Grey's Anatomy."

Anyhow. Suffice it to say, it made me laugh. A lot. :)
