I have to say, I absolutely love this story. This is probably the first time I've seen Lureen written in such a positive way, and it was great to see such a humanizing aspect in her; most of the time, people tend to throw her out of the picture without recalling that she and Jack had a strong relationship at the beginning (and even had their own form of love; albeit, for Jack it would never be able to compare to Ennis).

Everything felt very sincere, and I love how you've written Lureen as a very strong, independant woman. While being strong, she's still vulnerable, and the way you've shown her as caring so much about Jack as to let him go was just... amazing.

Admittedly, the end was very sad for me; by that point Lureen had definitely grown on me, and it felt as though Ennis and Jack got their happy ending without acknowledging how much Lureen's intervention had done to help them. I only hope that she and Jack are able to stay as friends or something, so she's not completely alone.

ps I love, love, love the little details you have sprinkled here and there that just make this story yours. The cast list at the beginning, the banter, everything. I've read several of your other stories (been feeling kind of lazy to review them...) and I love them all. They've all got their conflicts and whatnot in them, but each story makes me feel like the world is a better place. The underlying message you seem to have in all of them (the whole, it's no one else's business what we do in our bedrooms and although people might dislike it, the general populace won't care and/or respect you for your qualities and not who you take to bed) is very heartening, and it's nice to be able to see that. I've noticed that you don't seem to like Alma much in your stories (indeed, even in the book and movie she wasn't portrayed as the best kind of person...) while Lureen is usually just as respectable as in here, or else she's out of action. Either way, I enjoy reading your stories, and I'll probably be coming back to read them over and over again throughout the years.

Ah. Excellent. I always like a strong likeable Lureen in a story as I found her character in the movie so likeable. Avery interesting angle to bring Donal and Tim into the story.

as usual great story. I only wished we had more of the Jack and Ennis reunion. That Dr. Peterson sounds like a horrible person. Keeping people against their will like that.
