Wonderful story. You've done a fantastic job of finding post-game voices for all the characters, and creating a credible situation to set the stage for an exciting and angst-ridden Balthier/Ashe reunion.

Ashe truly shines in this story, as she balances practicality with the romance and trust she longed for in a marriage. She's sacrificed so much for her kingdom, and at first is willing to enter a "partnership" to produce an heir for the sake of Dalmasca, but the sheer pressure of making such an intimately personal choice under public scrutiny and a hard-fast timetable wears at her.

It was also unique to watch Ashe and Balthier fall in love all over again. This time it's not under the high-octane adventure of saving Ivalice, but in the quiet, private moments Ashe discovered a pensive, solitary man she never knew before.

It will be interesting watching Ashe reconcile the flamboyant leading man with the stalwart guardian at her back, and now that Balthier's mask is off, I hope to see the story dig a little deeper into his own thoughts and motivations.

Haha, and so the acting stops. I have no idea if Ashe will walk up to him and slap him in the face or act like nothing's happen and break down (only slightly) in her private room. Balthier has a habit of causing bad things to happen even when well-intentioned =(
