| Miniver 2008-09-20 ch 1, | abuseI don't know how I missed this one! You managed to tidy up the mess that Adamson made of Peter's character in the movie by giving us a statement of Peter's faith that's as moving as Puddleglum's steadfast words in The Silver Chair. Your compassionate writing restores some of Peter's true nature. (Poor movieverse Peter: not only did he have to enact a "rivalry" with Caspian that belongs in a boy band TV special, not only did he insist on a raid that resulted in needless deaths, but he fell under the spell of the White Witch! Pigs would fly first...) Not that I normally encourage people to break vows, but I do hope you'll continue to write Narnia fiction. May I put in a request for bookverse Peter sometime in the future? I'd love to see what you would bring to a story about the REAL High King. |
| Andi Horton 2008-08-07 ch 1, | abuseThis is a simple, simply wonderful piece. I am so annoyed I didn't realise you had written these earlier, I'd have been here so fast! Peter's self-reproach and gradual realisation of the truth are both perfectly drawn and exquisitely balanced with each other, and the message is inescapable. I am SO appreciative of the blame(!) and actually quite honoured to have in any way sparked this. It is beautiful, and so very true. The Aslan in the film was simply not the Aslan of the stories, because Aslan in the Chronicles . . . once you met Him . . . you just were never the same. Even in the inability of the elder pair to see him in the book there was sound, in-character justification for the reasons they couldn't, while in the movie they just made it so SILLY. Thank you- there should probably be soem sort of collection of fics that don't mind playing merry havoc with the movies for the sake of the books, lol! I loved this :) |

| Spouse of Orestes 2008-06-05 ch 1, | abuseBeautifully written. I'm so glad the movie came out. It brings out the best writers back into . And I consider you one of them just by reading this piece. Keep it up and if you can write more, I will definitely up for reading them. There's just so much material we can work on with the movie, don't we? |
| claire henry 2008-06-05 ch 1, anon. | abuseI loved this oneshot, because Peter in the PC movie has been getting unfairly criticzited for being a bit of a prat in the movie which is sad. your explaination of Peters' additude was great and beliveable to the chactarztion of Peter in both the movie and book. |
| Rosa Cotton 2008-06-05 ch 1, | abuseI think you did a great job with this story. You were very true to both the book and movie. You captured Peter very well, the mixture of hope and despair. Thank you for bringing Aslan into the picture, into the center. "But did he? Did Aslan leave him … or has Peter left Aslan? "And so the truth dawns. His love for Narnia has driven out his love for Aslan. He has missed this land so much … and yet forgotten its Creator." "Narnia without Aslan is as empty as the Other Place. It is Aslan, he knows, that is the true High King, the one to whom even Peter must kneel in submission." Those passages were very powerful. |
| the shadow proves the sunsh... 2008-06-05 ch 1, | abuseI have read almost every story that has popped up on that concerns what happened in the white witch scene, through various character's viewpoints, and have been dissapointed with them all. Until this one. This is for certain the most believable scenario out of all those stories. Peter has just the right amount of anger and despair, not overboard, not too little. Going on my favorites list! |
| Lara86 2008-06-05 ch 1, | abuseThis is really great. I love it. I have so many ideas bouncing around in my head about why Susan and Peter took so long to see Aslan and I'm especially curious as to why Susan turns away from Narnia. When I was little I hated Susan- now that I'm older I see the similarities between Susan and myself and I've become terribly interested in Susan's 'demise'. I've always considered Peter the strong one- the one with unwavering courage and hope- this story made me think that maybe I need to be thinking about Peter as a flawed character as well. In short, I really love it! |
| Mercury Gray 2008-06-05 ch 1, | abuseWell, for someone who vowed never to write Lewis fanfic, you have done a really good job staying true to the text, both the book and the movie. (that, I find, is one of the fun things about fanfiction- you can attempt to be as good as the authors you love so much.) I like how you brought Aslan back into the picture, and how it really is all about him- I think Lewis would be proud of that message because for Christians, it really is all about Christ. Nice Job! |
