I think that what I liked most about this was that it wasn't about an instant friendship but rather about reaching that place somewhere between constant bickering and friendship. That you don't have Sharpay CHANGE as a result of the somewhat mutual understanding. That it's not a case of, okay, now we've talked about this so we're best friends and we're gonna go shopping and talk about boys. Given my liking of the gradual build in Sharpay (which, in my case, gradual means like sixty chapters. But whatever). It felt more real this way. I think this is where I struggle with stories which integrate Sharpay into the group straight away, this place here that you have to be at before you can forge anything closer. Hmm so yes. Who knows, you might convert me one of these days :P
