   Authorized 2008-09-24 . chapter 5I read the whole thing, beginning to end. Descriptions as always are decent, and the story seems solid enough, but there's one thing I just cannot get past. The fact that Shadow seems so out of character. Like in another ballpark. Writing someone "in character" is a big deal to me, simply because, as another writer put it, there's ways to use what little bit of the character there was in the first place and taking it beyond canonical events into something believable.
I don't think Shadow is that suave a person, nor so sexually aggressive, especially since he was in suspended animation for quite a while, and the fact that the only girl he really cared about was Maria; and even then, only being a brief friendship. I'm not saying that he's "emo", rather that he's still introverted, focused on himself, and of course, narcissistic, though not in the same bombastic way Sonic is, if you understand where I'm coming from with this. Rouge, on the other hand, seemed to be in character and well written, though she seemed a little weak. |
