 Dark waffles 1/13/12 . chapter 1Boo |
Starlight-Ninja 7/9/10 . chapter 1I normally put off my pokemon's evolution because they learn moves faster that way.
And I doubt it's really that bad after they've gotten use to their new size and limitations, but I could be wrong. |
 Dabrikishaw 9/7/07 . chapter 1Idiot! |
UnluckyAmulet 11/10/06 . chapter 1Generally good points, though I don't think that Pikachu's evolution problem is that big a deal as a couple of the other ones. Are you going to do another chapter? |
clara200 9/14/06 . chapter 1I never thought about it but I guess it would not always be a happy thing. |
Redemmo 10/29/04 . chapter 1you don't have to write strictly happy stories. there's action/ adventure which can have a nice combination of both. i'm writting a fic like that. it's called elite four bruno's story. not a very original title but can you please r&r it if you do read it? it's my first fic so any helpful critism is appreciated. |
 doggielova 6/24/04 . chapter 1I liked it |
Supremia 5/7/02 . chapter 1Man you are creepy. (as Gur from Invader Zim) I like you! |
Inaya 4/25/02 . chapter 1I love all of your work, and I'll review them later. I love this one especially, because I don't evolve my Pokemon. Out of my team only Gyarados, Pidgeot and Ampharos are evolved. I cought my 'dos fully evolved, and waited until the other two had all their attacks before I evolved them. I wholeheartedly agree that evolution is rarely the answer. (If you're curious, my other 3 are Growlithe, Scyther and Sneasel. Many people would agree that the evolved forms of the former 2 are much better.) In fact, I agree with a lot of what you say in your stories (although they're not quite that). Okay, I'm shutting up now...

 Jessiekat 3/12/02 . chapter 1Sad 'fic. Scary author's notes at the end. ; |
Lightning-Strike 12/31/01 . chapter 1Until you put it that way, I never would have given it a second thought. |
The GirlieGyarados 12/4/01 . chapter 1I was Ratatta, now I am Raticate. I am much larger and more powerful, but my face is ugly enough to frighten the humans I once played with. I was Croconaw, now I am Feraligatr. My strength is immense and my speed in water is astonishing. However, I am so heavy I can't move on my hind legs anymore; I have lost the use of my hands. I read BenRG's piece too, before I reviewed this. I agree with both of you. Evolution can be wonderful, or it could be horrible. It all depends on the pokemon's personality. For example, a Bulbasaur that values it's versatility and mobility over sheer strength would never voluntarily wish to evolve. But a Ponyta who wanted to be faster and deadlier would probably evolve into Rapidash gladly. For more examples, all I have to do is read your fic Brother. Brings up an interesting question though-Considering some pokemon personality traits, even if their evolved form was infinetely better than their current form, would they still forsake their evolution? The so called 'obvious choice'? I was Magikarp, now I am Gyarados. My life has changed from living in fear, to being absolutely untouchable. However, I have never been more alone and sad in my enitire existance, since everything is too afraid of me to do anything but run in terror. I just want someone to talk to... I was Abra, now I am Kadabra. Why won't my trainer let me rest? Why won't he accept my old defensive moves instead of the new offensive ones I learned in evolution? Why do I have to hurt people now? Since this psychic bond of an attack lets me *feel* their fear, pain, and confusion, why haven't I died of hertbreak by now? Puts an interesting twist on things, don't it? Hope to see more. Oh and about the whole Scyther/Scizor/flying thing. I think I might have seen Scizor fly on the TV show, I better find the show and watch again before I make any big claims on it. I don't believe the type has anything to do with being able to fly though-Magnemite, Magneton and Heracross aren't flying types but they can fly, so can Mew and Mewtwo for that matter. Conversely, Gyarados, Doduo, and Dodrio are flying types but they can't fly. Go figure. Alright now, this is a WAY LONG review, I think I'll end it now. BaiBai! |
Wildwolf 11/17/01 . chapter 1I was Eevee, now I'm Umbreon. People fear and revile me. I was nothing, but became Mewtwo. Am I only just a shadow of Mew and a human's legendary prize? Good fic, really true. Then again, all your fics I've read were good. Bright happy thoughts usually scare me... I was Eevee, now I'm Espeon. And I know too many dark secrets found out about others around me. I was Pidgeotto, now I'm Pidgeot. So much is expected of me... |
Farla 10/12/01 . chapter 1Hi everyone, just here to say that no, scizor can't fly. I don't care what they showed on the TV show, scizor is bug/steel not bug/flying like scyther. I don't know if this was kept in the english game, but in the translated Japanese walkthru I bought, the translated pokedex entry for scizor says it can't fly. (it doesn't talk about this in gold and I haven't traded a scizor to silver or crystal yet so I don't know, but most of the translated entries ended up in the english version so I bet that it says that somewhere.) Scyther, which is part flying, can't use the HM fly anyway, so why should scizor be able to fly? And scizor is slower then scyther. I've trained them. Scyther is faster, scizor has better attack and defense. If you don't believe me, go to http:/pokemon.vgf.com/pokedex/stats.html |
BenRG 10/12/01 . chapter 1This is your usual downbeat (but good) work, Farla. Um... I hope you don't mind, but I've been stewing over this fic all evening since I first read it, and now I'm going to post a rebuttal to your points. I just want you to know that it is NOT a flame or an attack on your work, rather it is a response to what I think is an unneccessarily dark view of Pokémon evolution. PS. I've been looking at the registered trademark. Do you think that it should be typed PoKéMoN...? Yours in wonderland... BenRG |
