MikoNoNyte 2008-08-24 . chapter 1A couple of items.
"tetoller" is incorrect. Correct spelling is teetotaler. I know, annoying isn't it?
Also, Prohibition was begun in 1919, becoming law in 1920. It was a gradual thing that eventually smacked most Americans in the face. The Democratic party ran a repeal during the 1932 elections and the law was repealed on December 5, 1933. To blame a "Protestent group in Kansas" is really to do an historical injustice. For one thing, not all the prohibitionists were Protestant. The most famous Carrie Nation was a baptist if I remember right. In either case, Christian women's groups, notably the WTCU moved for the amendment but equally women's groups such as WONPR, the Women’s’ Legion for True Temperance, soon renamed the Women’s Organization for National Prohibition Reform (my god what a mouthful!) worked just as diligently to repeal the amendment.
Anyway, history lesson concluded. :)
All in all a nice chapter. I personally am not a fan of the 3rd and last installment of Shadow Hearts. They did rush the game, mostly to attempt to recoup losses from over-expendatures with SH II. Pity, as it had a lot of potential. However, many gamers do like it. Oh well. |
