This had me laughing all the way through! I'm a Discworld fan, so I noticed the resemblance to Dibbler right off. I enjoyed Thorongil's cautiousness, and the dialog was very good.

Hahaha, good one! There truly is a Dibbler wherever you go! Face like an optimistic weasel indeed. Could this be continued? I wonder who else could turn up in Edoras? A pair of watchmen, one fat and one barely human? A giant of a captain, who thinks he is a dwarf? I think there are possibilities!

HA! That was marvelous! My first guess for HMOH was Hewing Me Own Head. ^^ I love when Diegleod cuts off all of Thorongil's sentences with questions, and how you've given him a tradition of trying to sell ridiculous things to newcomers. Dibbler is the sort of character you might suspect of being a sort of constant--every universe has to one.

This is the funniest story, I've read in a long time. And I loved your deadpanning the situation, until you reached the climax with...‘Well,’ said Thorongil, ‘It’s a cow, for a start.’ That was perfection, and had me laughing out loud.
