I really like this. Although it is only the preface, the mystery and different perspectives put an aura of sadness and foreshadowing. I don't know if you meant for it to be that way, but I really liked the style.
If there are three different stories based around the same basic plot, you can either blend the stories together or give us a distinct place where one story starts and where it ends.

well it was a little confusing with the three different parts but i'm sure i'll understand it as the story goes on. i like it though, it's well written and interesting. nice job
