You are absolutely right. I haven't read or watched Holes in, oh, about the same time that you have. Nor have I read or written any fanfiction in that time, and now look what it's done; evolution of the fanfiction writer.
Anyway, I enjoyed this story. It's more realistic, playful, and a refreshing change of pace. It's also funny.
