As a story, lovely.
Just introspective and light enough to strike a healthy balance between the two, and give a well rounded feel to the whole thing. The recovery from Afghanistan is particularly striking and realistic.
I'd hate to let negativity seep in, so even if I'm not sure it fit the prompt as I had imagined (which had more conventional connotations to the idea), it's a welcome new perspective.

Hi! so, I love the just plain human interaction you have here for Tony and Pepper...I was kinda shocked when the surfing came into play...then as i read further, it all gelled together nicely.

thats not how to spell 'gelled' is it? oh well.
