It also strengthens the impact of the challenge line./Her mind replayed his betrayal, taunting her with his eloquent words that he had once spoken to her.

I loved that one really old cartoon back in the day...

Although this is a sad ending, it is to a VERY well written story. I really like your story. Swan Lake fics aren't very common... I like your writing style. It's not the average blah style, where it's good, but yet... missing something. I feel that it's more on the sophisticated side, maybe?
