That was one thing I noticed in reading the books is that Edward would seldom just hold Bella. There was always a kiss in there somewhere. It would have been nice if he relazed a little. Great story.

I love the way you described their hug, and Bella compared it to Edward and decided Jacob was just better. And this sentence:

"She looked at Jacob. His friends (his family, his pack, his gang, his whole life) joked and playfully fought, and Emily was between them like a mother, never once afraid."

just made me all fuzzy - it reminded me of that sense of family I love to see in fics.
