Devastatingly good opening lines. And the flashback of David's grief was heart rending. And their dialogue was just the right mix of angry edge and honesty and earnestness. Jack's "don't get smart" floored me. Oh how this story makes me pine for more. Your writing is luminescent. Thank you for taking the care to craft it the way you do.

I don't know how you do it. It's hard to explain what exactly makes this fic so wonderful, but it is, it really is just that terrific. Thank you so much for this update. I have a feeling David may be getting more of a story than he bargained for.

Oh, misprint. I'm running out of ways to flail incoherently at this story, you know. This chapter was particularly well-timed: I just re-watched Newsies for the first time in about two years on Saturday, and also I had a final this morning and knowing this chapter was waiting was a brilliant motivator. And it didn't disappoint! I love the way you handle the slash so subtly but at the same time make it so present, and the light imagery continues to be amazing. Also, David. You made me love David. I didn't think that would ever happen.

so, I don't think I can ever express how much it delights me and such that you updated this. it was a ray of beautiful sunshine on my day.

Oh. My. God. I didn't believe it at first, when I saw this had been updated. Hurray! And a Jack/David run-in. Oh my. I don't even know what to say. Your visuals are still so beautiful. When I read your stuff, it's like watching scenes fly by through a dusty train window or something. And I mean that a compliment, even though it sounds quite odd. You just have a way of creating an atmosphere.

*FLAIL* Misprint, god, I ADORE this story. I can't even tell you how much. The descriptive language and the way you get inside David's head are absolutely incredible. It took four chapters to get to Jack and I wasn't impatient at all- that's how gripping David's story is- except when he was talking to Graves and all of a sudden I went, oh god, I bet Jack is here somewhere and then I was all tense and anxious for the rest of the chapter. And you didn't disappoint at all! Seriously, I can't express how glad I am that you're writing this. *fangirls all over you*

My god, I adore this story. The characters are wonderful and the plot is interesting, but what truly carries it above and beyond is your unbelievably amazing prose. You have such a way with words; it's all so incredibly evocative, all the little details of people and places and sensations. It's like actually being in the story, except moreso.

I'm so glad that you decided to update. This is one of the most poetic pieces of work I've ever read here, and it would have been a real shame to see it discontinued. I hope that you update again soon.
