Reviews for: For the Love of the Jewels
Last Harlequin 10/20/07 . chapter 1
I believe this is one of the best works of mind I have seen in a long time. It is an evokeing piece indeed and I cannot help but feel what she does to an extent. And I am not just saying that. It is a wonderful piece even if it is not exactly how we wanted it, what ever really is?
invisiblesplotch 8/3/06 . chapter 1
This is really poetic and moving, i love how you've structured your sentences, and i must say that you've portryed Yuffie very well, there are quite a number of fics that put a different spin on her and portray her as angsty and angry, but you've managed not to overdo it, and your langauge is just incredibly beautiful, even if it didn't form into anything coherent, i think i would be satisfied just reading these poetic musings. lovely.

What a sad fic. Really good though. I feel for Yuffie. Great job!
the Ambassador 1/22/04 . chapter 1
Beautiful. The definitive Yuffie Kisaragi vignette, and although I myself have had feelings for a Yuffie story I could *never* write one this good.
And Wutai is such a barren land. I didn't even wonder, before, when Cait and Vin and Cid traipsed across it towards the red-lacquer city-why are there the monsters of swamps here, in this place where nothing grows? Why is the rock so bare and grey? I groaned at her, silly thief girl, that time-'well, whaddaya expect from Yuffie?'-and didn't wonder why.
Later I wondered. And it was the Dragon heartbreak and the Chaos heartbreak and the Holy heartbreak all over again-the Wutai heartbreak, this time. One of my landslide people is broken, and I hold the pieces in clumsy hands, and all the King's horses and all the King's men can't put Kisaragi together again...
Don't show pity; she's proud. Like her father was. Like her home was. Don't show pity, 'cause that will only hurt her worst...I won't show pity. This is far beyond my powers to fix. And crying won't change anything.
But I know, now, why she stepped up in the Caldera Borealis. Stepped up for the final battle. Revenge, little sister. For love of the jewels.

Right, reading this again after so long, I remember why I didn't review. There is no way I could possibly do justice to this. Given time and enough inspiration, I could pick it apart and display each little bit of beauty and meaning; but why would I? It's whole and perfect as it is and hides nothing. You are an incredibly good writer and I wish I could do so well.
Lake Desire 11/1/01 . chapter 1
What a pleasant surprsie! There are so few fanfics featuring Yuffie, and this is certainly among the best! I'm sorry I am unable to leave you a more creative review, but I loved this. It was moving and disturbing, and inspiring. I need to extend my vocabulary if I ever hope to write half as well as you do!
ChaosWEAPON 10/31/01 . chapter 1
I'm really, very, truly sorry I didn't review earlier...so I'll try one now
The continuing "fading" of her mother is something that adds an undefinable tone to the story, but I will say that even out of the blue I'll suddenly think "Mother was a faded face. Mother was a photograph." It stays with you. The thoughts of her mother in parentheisis are great, telling us that while Yuffie seems "unsightly", it is because she was forced into it, not because that's how she was raised. I love the descriptions of the war itself, and one point I particularly like is the General. Sephiroth, perhaps? The fist references are also good, sticking with you like the descriptions of her mother. (The Hand Makes a Fist would have been a good title, but this is just as good.) Getting back to the General, if he is Sephy, then you made another reference to his "masculine brutalities", which is a wonderful tie-in to Sephiroth ibn Jenova. The most talented of writers are the ones that can make little hidden referecnces, little ties, until you pull back and realise that they are all completely, inextricably bound together. The "Mother died of heartbreak" and the "Don't watch as my soul burns" are so...haunting...they come back to you. Wonderful! I also love the way she died (wait...did that make me sound morbid? Oh well.) and how you described it. It's beautiful, tragic, and somehow, it fits, as though that's exactly what happened. The gem-comparisons are great for the title, and they make for wonderful descriptions. This is EXCELLENT!
magnum opus 10/31/01 . chapter 1
I'm at a total loss of words. Saying this is beautifully written would be an understatement. To show Yuffie to be more than a materia obsessed girl is every Yuffie fan's dream, but your portrayal gives a more powerful and deeper insight and meaning to her behavior. I shall shut up now. *stares in awe*
Scarr C 10/30/01 . chapter 1
oh heavens, i am breathless. this is the most stunning yuffie vignette i have been so blessed to chance upon. beautiful is such a common term utilized by many reviewers these days, but when your words meld and twitter into a fanfic as powerful and heartbreakingly pretty as this, you create a more radiant definition to that word. (hush, scarr; hyperventilating is not graceful)
bandagesisfinished 10/29/01 . chapter 1
Whoa...dude, I wanna know how to write like that. bow to the wholy gods like you who write good junk! (I sound like an idiot...) Anyway, I like it, it charecterizes Yuffie very well, and you don't find enough fics about her. _
SilverKnight 10/28/01 . chapter 1
Wow. Very eloquent. And what DOES "The House of Corridors" mean?
Rohali 10/28/01 . chapter 1
Wow...really nice job, never really wrote about yuffie, but i love this POV very nice development of a minor characters background into a powerful image..keep it up
