Sedra 2008-11-23 . chapter 1Julia did some pretty awful things, so it's nice to see this story fill in some missing pieces. I guess they could blame some of her insanity on Uly's DNA, but her intent was still there. I just assumed they forgave her so quickly out of necessity. Hard to hold a grudge when she's still saving people's lives and they live in such close quarters. The scene where Julia chases True and then tries to convince everyone that True is lying still sends chills down my spine! |
TesubCalle 2008-07-26 . chapter 1You're right. The title does indeed make sense once the story has been duly read. (I initially wondered if it was going to have more to do with 'in vino veritas' than with erring, but then realised there probably isn't a lot of 'vino' at camp for one to consume).
Initial impression: I love this. It's been a while since I whipped out my Earth 2 DVDs, but from my personal recollections of the characters, I believe you got them spot-on.
Thanks for writing this little 'missing-scene' piece. I agree that it was barely touched in the series, and it's nice to be able to have a peek at what probably transpired after Julia's return from her brief exile. Couldn't resist taking a look at a Julia-centered fic, anyway, since she was my favourite character. You brought a smile to my face at the notion she was "Slowly becoming Eden Advance’s first career recluse."
I also appreciate that you found time to mention the 'background' characters, like Walman, Baines and Mazatl. One wonders if Earth 2 had lasted longer if we would have seen more development, or any focus on them.
It figures that True would mangle the saying; but nice of Julia not to correct her (once she understood what True had meant). Nice little reconciliation between the two, and mature of True to apply her lesson to the situation.
This goes on my favourites list for sure! |
lfvoy 2008-07-09 . chapter 1I very much like this. I agree that resolving the issues with Julia was done a bit too quickly (especially since they spent two episodes building things up), but this is a nice touch that makes it easier to imagine. I like that Julia's willing to apologize even to True, and I can imagine her hiding from the rest of the group like this.
My only constructive criticism involves Bess' apologetic look as Morgan dragged her out of the tent. Given the animosity in the story, was that just her being herself or...? That however didn't detract in the slightest.
Thanks for this! |
