Well this is off to a fascinating start! I liked the variation on the bracelet and the Book of Grey Words (badum-shish). The scene change from Zel to Telerin was a bit confusing, but perhaps she'll be explained in a continuation...? Sometime? Please?

Hmm, interesting. The scene between Amelia and Zelgadis was great, striking just the right balance between friendship and romance so that everyone except the rapid Amelia haters should be happy. Telerin shows much promise as a character, though I do worry that you'll turn her into a love interest for Zelgadis. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading this first chapter.
