Mariagoner 2009-03-09 . chapter 6This was really terrific and a wonderfl summation of Rachel. Fantastic job! |
BlessedMay 2009-02-19 . chapter 6That was heart breaking. The girl deserved a happy ending and she couldn't get it... gah so tragic! And I loved it... |
Mazda Rinako 2009-01-10 . chapter 6i love your fanfic and i'm sure that i'll be glad to read more from you.

WhatsMyNomeDePlume 2008-11-01 . chapter 6excellent. all i can say is thinking about that last line, that last moment -- "Bruce."-- still makes my throat tighten up.
i'm going into more detail, expect a pm :) |
LA Knight 2008-09-27 . chapter 1I like this. It's sad, but at the same time, it like... pierces, you know?
I'm favoriting this. |
 Larawest 2008-09-20 . chapter 5 wow... good job. I love it |
Duck Goddess 2008-09-12 . chapter 5Wow, this is such a beautiful story! I love the non-linear narrative structure and the characterisations of all the characters are perfect; I can't really say much else because everything is so good! Well done! |
Freebooter 4Ever 2008-09-03 . chapter 2Wow! You took Rachel's character and gave her depth and emotion I couldn't have imagined her having in the movies! Rachel mostly annoyed me in Batman Begins and her one saving grace in Dark Knight was that she and Harvey were extremely cute together. And here you have her entire reasoning behind disapproving of Batman and not being with Bruce throughly explained. Amazing! The movie Rachel may be nothing more than a silly love interest, but this Rachel feels real.
The only issue I have is where you compare Harvey to Bruce. Personally, I think part of Batman's appeal is that he is human, without any superpowers. Bruce/Batman often is honest/kind/humorous/driven, especially around people who know both identities...which actually narrows the list down to Alfred usually. :D But Alfred counts! |
Lemondrop xxx 2008-09-02 . chapter 5What a lovely, amazing story. Finding some good quality BB fics is quite difficult on . Ten Minutes provided both a wonderful insight into Rachel in DK, but also a suberb character study of her internal workings. She's -is- woefully underappreaciated. But I attribute that mainly to the Katie Homles as Rachel than anything else. Maggie Gyllenhaal brings quality to her character that I can both identify with and love. I hope to see more of her in fanfiction, but I don't think she's easy to write by any means. Which makes this fic such a wonderful masterpiece. Your tone was realistic, and appropriate and the conflict you conjured about Bruce and Harvey was fantasitc. You really did justice to her. Loved the hints and foreshadowing with the Joker and Anna, it kept it intresting but didn't make it at all unrealistic to think that the conversations might have happened without Rachel being suspicious. My favourite chapters would have to be the first and second.
A job well done,
Lemondrop.
P.S I've written a post-DK that is based on the triumvirate of the movie. I'd appreciate you have a read, especially if you like the darker toned works. It's a little less 'skillfully' angsty, but in my defense I did write most of it without caffine at one in the morning. I feel so cheap asking you read my story. Sorry if it annoys you. I hate it when people do that to me, but you did ask in the note at the end. |
Twinings 2008-08-23 . chapter 5Oh, GOD. If she had been written like this, I wouldn't have hated Rachel at all. Beautifully written. I love seeing a little personality injected into what was originally a poorly acted Mary Sue. And I love the interweaving of the two story threads, the contrast between the tense now and the lyrical then. Nonlinear storytelling at its finest!

IVIaedhros 2008-08-23 . chapter 6Never mind about that earlier PM. I see now what happened.
Recommendations for your C2...
Measured Out in Coffee Spoons by David Hines: this is the first, best, and only story I've read where the Joker is portrayed as redeemed. Surprisingly powerful and a wonderful indirect tribute to Batman's ability to be impartial.
The Best I Ever Had by Smitty: a drabble where Batman/Bruce's various romantic liaisons discuss his...superiority. Not even remotely serious.
The Small Part by miss.quixotic: a dark portrayal of insanity bordering on possession where a young women is sentenced to Arkham under the care of Dr. Crane. Very rough, though the sequel is much higher quality. Regardless, both stories are excellent portrayals of insanity.
Broken by Calico: neither dark or light in tone, this is a dramatic romance that follows an aging Bruce Wayne and his relationship with an OC. Follows B:TAS/BB/JLU universe and the only Batman/Bruce x OC that I've really enjoyed outside of Fall to Grace. |
IVIaedhros 2008-08-23 . chapter 5Bruce's crime...if it can be called that, in actions or attitude...and Rachel's choice...ah, such sweet drama. |
IVIaedhros 2008-08-23 . chapter 4The contrast between Bruce and Harvey is quite well played. Instead of just the White Knight vs. the Dark, legal vs. illegal justice, you have human vs. non-human. |
 IVIaedhros 2008-08-23 . chapter 3Ah, but is he? |
IVIaedhros 2008-08-23 . chapter 2The best thing about this chapter, IMO, is that small glimpse at Alfred.
“I’ve seen the world, Rachel,” he said, his wise, tired eyes piercing me, “and that is why I am quite happy to stay here.”
Now that, I loved. |
