I have to say, I thought it was ghouls, but the Nightgaunts were pretty scary. I liked the scorpion-like movements, which I thought made them scarier than the 'Gaunts just moving like normal vamps and demons.

I really enjoy the monsters you continually pit the group against. Familiar to us nerds who read Lovecraft, play D&D, or have a more-than-passing fascination with the Norse, yet different from many of the things Buffy ever faced. I'm looking forward to the next one. Cheers!

One thing (of the many) that I like about this story is the way that Faith decided to fight for her burgeoning relationship with Xander and Cordy. All too often we've seen where Faith starts to get close to someone, usually Xander, and when something goes wrong she doesn't even try to salvage it, but just closes up. I'm glad to see this Faith doesn't seem to be going in that direction.

Two excellent chapters. Willow's trying to make amends and breach the fence between her and Faith. Faith, confused, but mostly terrified at the idea of losing what she gained, acknowledging her deepening feelings for Xander and Cordelia. Very moving.

And the destruction of the nest... Wow! They're all so brave...and nuts.

-with Cordelia's help- that Faith needs something more than a bit of distracted attention from him. That he needs to be Her watcher and support her more. She needs him.

Cordelia's an amazing bringer of confidence. She's past the phase when she liked putting people down, it's all about joking and caring now.

Faith and Xander need a serious ego boost and feel loved and appreciated for what they are. What's better than your personal cheerleader?

Faith's so afraid of losing the people she loves.I guess she's beginning to get that love makes you -more- vulnerable. I hope she doesn't back off on it but who knows?

Would life be worth something without loving or caring even if it hurts sometimes?

Tough lesson to learn.

Buffy's adventures in LA with Pike and Gunn make for interesting interludes. I like that girl but she's so closed off. Pike's presence seems to loosen her a bit.

These new monsters of the week are way scary and gross. Ew! The fight in the cemetery was frightening in its intensity.
