ladysavay 2009-10-25 . chapter 8"Harry, despite himself, was impressed. If he’d had something like this at the beginning of fifth year, even if it had been a ruse to make him think he was involved, he’d have felt loads better about the extent to which the Order valued his participation and he might not have been so affected by Dumbledore’s behaviour, which, in retrospect, he could see the rationale for."
What rationale? What reason for Dumbledore not including someting along this line BEFORE he was drawn to the DOM could suffice? Dumbledore KNEW Harry had the Voldemort connection. He KNEW he was making himself unavailable to Harry that year, on purpose and without telling Harry why? He KNEW he wasn't always at school (unless the whole 'flying by broom to the ministry in first year' on the night Quirrel went for the stone was just an excuse to get Harry to defend it),he KNEW Voldemort had and would continue to come after Harry, he KNEW Snape and Harry were at best adversarial and that Snape did not believe Harry was important or vauable in any way, yet he left the school, albeit unwillingly, and Harry, and never once thought of the fact that Harry could be found without allies in it,and gave him NO WAY to commuicate with him in case of emergency. There was no emergency portkey for him then, was there? No way to get in touch with an order member if needed, was there? Dumbledore knew Harry and Voldemort had a mental connection and that often it was both painful and full of necessary information, yet he did nothing but let Snape have full access to Harry in order to fix the problem and never once made a contingency plan. So much for always thinking of the boys 'safety over his happiness' for the "Greatest Wizard of Light", and yet the man who forced him to come back and reside at this houe where he is hated and abused aqll for the sake of his safety couldn't be arsed to find a way for the boy to contact him in case of smergency? Nah, it just doesn't wash.
"Harry did feel bad about the way he’d acted, but decided it couldn’t hurt to let it be known so Dumbledore would feel mollified and be willing to help him out."
Why? He had in anyone's way of thinking more than enough reason to be furious. Rightous anger was the cause of the explosion in the office and it was was the very LEAST the old blunderer deserved. For Harry to apologize for this quite sane and rational reaction shows him to be just as wussy and wimpy as he was the entire year before. Dumbledore made several HUGE mistakes and as a result someone, the only one Harry could think of as family, DIED!
I'm sorry, I just really hate Dumbledore apologists who try to make him into some wise but too caring of a man who only erred on the side of love. He is over a century old. He knows more magic than most other wizards could dream of and yet, he left a tiny boy who had just lost his parets on a doorstep, at night, in winter with only a note and never went back even once to check on him. Ther is no excuse for that and everything else he did, by NOT doing something for him came out even worse than that decision. |
