Seriously! Jet is allowed to die(even if he is a jerk) but Zuko isn't? It would have been a very sad, but memorable ending. But it is a kids show...

AW i love this i hoped someone would do a good re-write of this scene & u'v done it wonderfully though it was a lil unclear as to right when Zuko died & i'd have loved to see the slightest bit more interaction between Zuko & Katara but all in all a great fic ^_^

I like you ending. As much as I like the hapy endng of the Avatar the last Airbender, Zuko should have died at the end and there should also be Katara forgiving him for what he did. It would have been better and showed the realities of war with the death of Zuko.

But I guess since Avatar the last airbender is a kid's show, the creators wouldn't want the children to see that.

ok, that was sad that you chose to kill Zuko. i don't think the series would be the same without him, but for a one-shot or something that's not going to go on too long afterward, it's a perfect crime, huh? even i'm not innocent; i've pulled this one before.
ok, loved the ending with Katara starting to take out her anger on Azula and then that was PERFECT the way you had Zuko going back to Ursa. but... yea, that last sentence could've been worded a little better. all the same, great job.

I think someone should have died in the finale. More specifically Suki (I thought she did die when the air ship broke). And then Tokka would have a cance ;)

That was really good! Yeah, the finale would have been better if someone died, of course, I'd rather it was Ozai, not Zuko... Even Suki I would have been fine with. Or if Sokka and Toph had fallen off that airship; it would have been the perfect Tokka moment! But I really liked it! Good job!

I always thought that the finale was memoriable on its own, but this was an interesting and mature outlook on the whole thing. After all, Aang only survived the lightening blast because Katara had her special water. Zuko (while badass) is not the Avatar. I'm glad he came out with another scar or that would have been really like WTF. So dying... yeah, it's a real possibility and I like the way that you explored it here. Zuko had a dignified death, and while it was sad it wasn't over the top.

I totally agree with you. If someone had died in the finale, the show would be so awesome to remember. And man! you're story almost made me cry! dang i was like, "OMFG NO!" but he didn't so whew!

Now that was how the finalle should have ended. As much as i loved Zuko i would have loved to see him die or at least hurt and Katara showing that she has forgiven him. I also loved that last line and how calm Zuko was when he died in some fics they make him so un-zuko-like but no this was great.

That was...depressing. But very good! Katara's reaction almost made me cry, so yea. heh. Although this is awesome, i'm so glad that it didn't actually happen, cuz then my ship would be thrown out the window, ^.^'

I was looking for something like this. I too was hoping that either Aang or Zuko would die in a glorious way in the finale. I don't know, maybe I'm too used to Japanese series where someone definitely dies in the end and forgot I was watching Nickelodeon. I like your fic. It's so emotional, especially the last part. To be honest I'd rather had Zuko die than end up with that dry board Mai.

Wow. I've read a few version where the lightning kills Zuko, but this was really realistic in the emotions and I liked how you referenced Jet's death because I didn't think about it, but it was a similar situation. Both times when she couldn't save someone who was trying to do the right thing. The last line was great. Reunited with his mom. That means she's dead, but at least, they are now together. Beautiful.

I agre, it would have been much better if characters died in the finale. I wanted to see Azula and Ozai die so badly. I mean, that's what I waited for for 2 years. I also find myself rather angry that Iroh didn't die, since there was quite a bit of foreshadowing that hinted his death. I really just found the wholw finale just one big unsatisfying copout.

But once again, very good story.
