So many things to love about this fic: the harsh reality of death and all the sensory elements that accompany it. Sam realizing at, age 24, he was more frightened than ever before in his life: I think part of adulthood is understanding that fear never goes away. And that last line just killed me...

OMG... what a story... the way you describe the smells and sights... and all through Sam's POV... Have you seen the preview that was shown of the 1st 5min of Season 4? If you haven't what you have written... well I'll pm you later don't want to ruin it for anyone who hasn't seen it. I found it on UTube...

A stark and haunting story. Sam's descent into darkness, his ability to hear Dean screaming if he concentrated chilling and I loved Dean might not have believed in God but he believed in Sam. The unmarked grave in the middle of nowhere, Dean having somewhere he wouldn't have to leave, was so poignant I promptly burst into tears even though I was sure I was done crying at NRFTW stories. Season 4 cannot come soon enough.

Great little fic. Poor Sam! I can't even pretend to imagine what that all means to him. I know he's going to go on. I'm not sure I could, though.
