HDT is eventually going to meet the first year Harry Potter, isn't he? It would make sense for him to still be there, considering that future Harry wound up in Voldemort.

I see HDT doing things differently from Voldemort, resulting in different things happening to Harry. And, if those things that happen are much better than anything that ever happened to future Harry, the combination of hatred and jealousy will have HDT trying just as hard to kill Harry Potter as Voldemort ever did.

Oh, and I see you don't seem to have HDT's Dark Lord name, yet. Here are a few suggestions (Harry Potter Tom Riddle):
