Vader's embivalence was beautifully summed up by his public dismissals and denials, but his private actions at the end.

Oh! Vader still has a heart :) I love this story just for that reason. Was that old piece of wood the japor snippet? And who is the man who has known Vader since before he became Vader? What being would work for both a Jedi and a Sith and not be bothered by his master's sudden change? Well anyways this was an amazing story - nice work!

"buy him time...to become what I could have been." Beautiful line. And the last sentence with him putting Luke's picture next to the necklace he made for Padme was a perfect ending.

I like your humanization of Vader he was so much more than a maniacal one dimensional killing machine.

This story demonstrates his very human side, and I have always been drawn to stories that describe Vaders' feelings the moment he realizes Luke is his son.

It naturally has a bittersweet tone which is very appropriate given the subject.

I like this story.
