Is it a little sad that I looked forward to this chapter even more once I read Kanzaka-san's interview? I was very eager to see what you were going to do with the new information, since you have such a unique and educated perspective of Slayers. I liked it! Yeah, it was sad and a little morbid, but I could appreciate the direction you took it in.

Actually, I think killing off both the mother and the brother did your story a bit of a favor. (Not that it isn't turning out great without the addition of this new plot twist) Witnessing the graphic death of his own mother plus causing the death of his own brother would definitely provide a shock big enough to make a him want to block out his own memory. It made this part of his past a lot more dramatic, but also kept it canon to Kanzaka-san's imagination of Gourry's past.

Anyway, this might sound cliche', but I'm realy looking forward to your next part!

This is awesome so far, I hope you continue. All of the characters stay true to the series and have a voice, something that's hard to pull off as flawlessly as you've done. By far though, you write Gourry with the same unassuming charm and clueless humor he's famous for and he completely comes off the pages. Good job man, this is great stuff.

Anyway! Wow, you’re going over the entire history of Gourry? I was expecting only the Hellmaster-time; not pre-mercenary time. Though I’ve no doubt you’ll do it fantastically.

One line I liked particularly here was “he hadn’t thought about it since… it happened” regards his 6th birthday. That’s just Gourry –though it makes me wonder about the knock on his head later; was that the initial cause of the sieve memory or was it bad before?

Although the best line was about telling Lina he’d found his mind. That made me laugh like nothing else.

And of series-Lina; yes reasonably mature; but still has no trouble throwing Gourry into a lake to distract the jellyfish… not that that didn’t turn out well.

I love that you made papa-Inverse his guide!
