VERY interesting story, I have to admit.

The points where this reality diverged from the one we know were a bit vague at first, but as it went on you created a rather interesting picture about Angel and Cordelia’s past lives- such as Cordelia being the one to stay in Sunnydale while Angel left; given that his curse was the main factor in his departure in canon I wouldn’t have thought he’d ever leave on his own-, to say nothing of the intrigue of the situation they faced in the future.

Your reference to the ‘split’ between the two groups of Watchers was intriguing, but it was your idea about the nature of the crisis that would bring them back together that really excelled; the idea of something trying to trigger the Gathering ‘ahead of schedule’ might be ambiguous in terms of why it would want the Gathering to happen early (Particularly when you consider that nobody actually KNOWS what will happen when the Gathering is concluded), but it definitely created an intriguing threat.

Add in such issues as the rather intriguing character of Katherine- an Immortal who’s allowed herself to become bitter over her losses where others have managed to make some effort to hold on to who they were-, as well as Spike’s role in events, and you really had an interesting plot.

And as for the conclusion...

Simple, but touching, as the two immortals acknowledge their grief over the loss of their mortal lovers and move on to the future that awaits them with the other.

In the end, my only problem with this is simple; in all the flashbacks you showed us, we never saw the moment where Cordelia’s status as an Immortal was revealed to the rest of the group (I acknowledge that it might be in another story, but I still think it’s something that would be worth seeing here).

Just wanted to say that I thought that this story was great! The storyline was amazing, I would have never thought of it and the characters were so real, I could definately picture Cordy and Angel saying those things.
