I liked this it differs from the rest and I liked it a lot. :)
Thank as well for the info on the DN movies, I never really understand what goes on (cos I've never watched any of them...which is sad, haha). What's even sadder is ME being in JAPAN for TWO WHOLE MONTHS without even watching a single goddamn DN movie.

Ugh.

But great one-shot (i was actually on my way down to look for your Scooby-doo DN thingy balingy... nervous chuckle).

M... yes. This is absolutely well written, I'll say.
I like the plot you have here, logical and realistic. I also kinda felt disappointed with Near's background portrayed in L : Change the WorLd, but you can create a red thread between some unconnected facts there and bond everything nicely here.

Good work.
And when I took the test you linked in your personal page, I'm surprised that actually I'm an INTJ person too. o_o A Near-one. I... even before I read Death Note I used to build a tower out of my writing tools, had also crazy perfectionism and such. Guess we're the same kind. *smiles*

Weird coincidence isn't it?

This is Tearlit from The Muse Bunny reviewing for the contest.

This was extremely well written and engaging. I'm not familiar with this character, but the way you wrote it I didn't need to be.

Your prompt utilization was fairly subtle and nicely done. I like that it wasn't verbalized repeatedly but left largely in the details.

The multiple page breaks to signify the passing of time were a nice touch, and you portrayed the prejudices of the people in a very realistic way.

I do wish we saw a bit more of his mother in this though; I see her as loving him but afraid of him at the same time. It would be interesting to see an interaction between then once he is older than a toddler.

I was rather surprised to realize that at the end the boy was only 7. And when he was finally given his own toy it made me say "aw!"

Great job!

:O

I absolutely loved this!
I love how you mixed L Change the World with possible backgrounds from the anime/manga.

I hated in the movie how they went around calling him 'boy' and then 'Near' at the end...and throughout the whole entire movie, no one bothered asking what his name was!! I was like..what the heck. You gave a believable reason for this, and it makes sense, so...xD; But yes! Very nice! I love it!

O, I really like how you thought everything through with the whole "why would a boy from Thailand have an English name" and such, and it was really well written. But when the woman thought he was "mute and dumb", did you mean deaf and mute or mute and stupid? Mute and dumb usually mean the same thing in such a context.

Ooh, I really like this... it makes sense, really, and it's a great version of Near's past with reference to the movies. Very good!

I don't really like Near, either. I prefer Matt and Mello. But, this was very well written. Even though it was about Near, I enjoyed reading it.
