Evidently this is based on A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Putting my personal prejudices aside, in that I adore that play, and am directing at the moment, and almost cannot bear to see it butchered so, and in addition to this, the fact that I am a staunch R/Gr shipper (although I really don't want to bring shipping into this), I have a few fundamental problems with this.

Firstly, a play format is very tricky to write in. The gimmick of basing the story on Dream is simply not enough to sustain it, it must have pathos, constantly shifting focus and action to keep it from getting static, and similar wit and humour to the play as well. If you were going to do Dream, then why not start where the play starts? Then you don't have the frankly implausible "She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, zomg I love her" scenario going on, neither would you have this horrible OOC-ness of Sirius as Egeus.

I mean- telling Harry he MUST be engaged to a girl from a good family? All good fanfiction has a basis in the fandom it comes from and Sirius behaving in this way completely contravenes every single mention of Sirius' beliefs and character we have ever heard. There's slight OOC-ness to fit a writing format, and then there's OOC-ness that's just plain ridiculous and makes one wonder, "Have you even read the books?"

I really don't want to flame, and I have tried to be as intelligent as I can and as thoughtful as I can in my answer but, alas, just as "the path of true love never did run smooth", neither does this awkward piece, that gives the aura of someone desperately trying to turn well-loved and well-established characters into other well-loved and well-established characters in the mould of a pairing and a story that, let's face it, simply doesn't work.

ooooh! GOOD! I like this a lot! I think that merging 'Dream' with Harry Potter is SUCH a good idea! My only question is: What is Alicia going to turn into as she is "Bottom". Will she be a flobberworm? or a niffler?

This sounds like it is based off of A Midsummer's Night Dream! We just finished watching that TODAY in Drama! I'm really glad I am doing Shakespeare in Drama, now I understand a lot more of the stories on ffn! This is really good, keep up the good work!

I'm thinking that tehre very well could be a bit of H/A (Harry/Angelina) should this potion not work out very well...keep writing! BTW, a few new chapters of HP and the KatT are out!

oh wow. at first i was kinda confused- from act 1 and stuff. then i started reading act 2. and haha. this is so much like a midsummer night's dream. (i read it in english two years ago) i loved it- the movie too. good story. keep on going though. i can't wait to see what happens next. btw- love that alicia part when she wanted to be everyone..

your story is really good. It's based on "a midsummer night's dream", of course! w/ Henrietta as Hermia, Ron as lysander, harry as demetrius, and hermione as helena! (sry if this sounds gay, we read a midsummer nights' dream in english last year and i *groan* still remember every detail.)
